Derrick Parks

Special guest

Derrick was born and raised in the extreme poverty of Camden, NJ. He was born again at the age of 18. He was a teenage father who had recently become a single father. As he held his 18-month-old son in his arms his Godmother asked him a pivotal question. She said, “Son, can you imagine giving your son’s life up to save someone else’s life?” She shared the gospel of Jesus Christ being given up as a ransom for him. Derrick received the Lord on that day.

From that point on the Lord connected him with some God-fearing men who he had befriended earlier in life at PBU. These men began to disciple him in the Gospel and he began to walk rightly before the Lord. In 2009, at the age of 24, he married his beautiful wife and started doing ministry in the city of Camden at various churches serving as a youth pastor. Derrick connected back up with Pastor Doug Logan in Camden in 2012 at Epiphany Fellowship Church. Derrick and his wife began to serve there faithfully. Derrick was eventually ordained as a Teaching Elder. Derrick began to discern the Lord’s calling to plant a church in 2014 after reading a Newsweek article about Wilmington, DE titled, “Murdertown USA”. Derrick and his family are entrenched in that journey for the long haul.
