Matthew Hoskinson

Special guest

Matthew C. Hoskinson (PhD) was born and reared in the Detroit area and was first drawn to trust Christ as an eight-year-old. As a teenager the Lord began kindling in him a desire for pastoral ministry, a desire that ultimately led to seminary studies in South Carolina and a Ph.D. in Theology. There I met my wife, Kimberly, a native of Ottawa, Illinois. We were married in 2000 and have since been blessed with four daughters and a son.

While finishing my dissertation, Matthew was called to serve as Pastor of Youth and Young Adult Discipleship at Heritage Bible Church in Greer, SC, where he and Kimberly had been members. In 2007 the elders asked him to serve as Pastor of Ministry Vision, a role that included vision-casting and administrative responsibilities. In 2010, Matthew accepted the call to become pastor of the historic First Baptist Church of New York City, where he served until 2018.

Matthew's 2010 book, Assurance of Salvation, is the published version of his dissertation, "The Full Assurance of Hope: An Analysis of Contemporary Opinions on Assurance of Salvation in Light of a Theology of Hope in the New Testament."
